As an anionic β-cyclodextrin derivative, carboxymethyl-β-cyclodextrin migrates in the opposite direction to the electroosmotic flow and the migration direction of two weakly alkaline analytes.

Product Introduction

Carboxymethyl-β-cyclodextrin is obtained by nucleophilic substitution of hydroxyl groups on the β-cyclodextrin ring with chloroacetic acid in an alkaline medium. It is a commonly used chiral additive in CE. As an anionic β-cyclodextrin derivative, carboxymethyl-β-cyclodextrin migrates in the opposite direction to the electroosmotic flow and the migration direction of two weakly alkaline analytes. Studies have shown that this countercurrent migration is conducive to chiral recognition, and that countercurrent migration increases the interaction time of the chiral selector and the analyte in the separation channel. It also shows that the chiral recognition process of cyclodextrin is not only the formation of inclusion complexes, but also weak interactions including electrostatic interactions play an important role.
